CPAC Facility Coordinator

Job Summary – CATCO seeks a full-time Facility Coordinator to maintain event schedules for two theatre spaces and to coordinate the use of rehearsal rooms at The Columbus Performing Arts Center (CPAC). This position also maintains the theatre's technical equipment, ensures the facility meets safety codes and standards, prepares event agreements, and maintains event documentation.

- Maintains calendar of events and locations of events at CPAC.
- Corresponds via email about events and responds to event requests.
- Creates letters of agreement for scheduled events.
- Responsible for lobby aesthetic before and after all performances.
- Schedules and assists with the cleaning of facilities.
- Ensures the facility is appropriately stocked for all equipment and facility needs.
- Maintains theatrical lighting fixtures, sound equipment, stage floors, etc.
- Unlocks and prepares space for events including turning on and inspecting all tech elements.
- Ensures guests are orderly and respectful when multiple groups are using the space simultaneously.
- Secures and shuts down theatre spaces and building at the conclusion of events.
- Maintains paperwork detailing event notes (occupancy levels, times, equipment used, etc.).
- Maintains lost and found items.
- Leads tours of the space when requested.
- Hires event technicians to assist with outside events when requested.
- Trains rental groups on the use of technical theatre equipment and assists with any technical issues that may arise.
- Enforces rules regarding city code and safety conducts.
- Communicates building issues to the city representative.
- Signs off on all fire-extinguishers monthly, meets with fire inspector, and maintains fire code for all shows.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- High School Diploma or GED required, undergraduate degree in Technical Theatre or related field preferred
- 3-5 years' theatre experience
- Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of city safety codes and regulations.
- Ability to operate theatre equipment, including lighting, sound, and the maintenance of stage floors.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent problem solving and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for long periods of time.

Stage Crew

CATCO has opportunities for individuals to get involved working behind the scenes on our productions. Stage Crew members work in the control booth or backstage, acting as light board operators, sound board operators, props runners, assistant stage managers, dressers, and stage hands. Some experience in technical theatre is very helpful, but not absolutely necessary.

There is a substantial time commitment, as well as a modest paycheck.

Stage Crew members commit to four-to-six weeks of rehearsal and performances, including most evenings Wednesday through Sunday.

The first 10 days of each show is our “Tech week,” and Stage Crew members will work long hours to get the show ready for performance. The typical tech schedule is:
Tuesday-Friday 6:30pm-11:00pm
Saturday-Sunday 1:00pm-11:00pm (with dinner break, of course)
Once the show is in performance, we usually produce Thursday-Saturday evenings, Sundays can be matinee and/or evening performances, and we perform several Wednesday morning shows.

Stage Crew members have the opportunity to meet new people, and will enjoy the camaraderie of working together with all of our artists and technicians to create the magic that our patrons see each night.

Technician Overhire

CATCO hires technicians on an as-needed basis for all of its shows. These positions are paid on an hourly basis and are often available for:
-Lighting Technicians for the hang and focus of each show’s lighting plot.
-Sound technicians for load-in, load-out, or run crew.
